Mental Health Treatment for Young Adults in Massachusetts
Young adulthood—roughly ages 18 to 25—is a period of rapid change, identity formation, and heightened vulnerability to mental health and substance use challenges. At Merrimack Valley Behavioral Health in Amesbury, Massachusetts, we provide outpatient treatment designed specifically for the developmental needs of young adults navigating this critical life stage.
Our programs recognize that young adults are not simply older teens or younger versions of older adults. They face distinct stressors: leaving home, adjusting to college or the workforce, forming new relationships, managing independence, and exploring identity—often while coping with untreated trauma, anxiety, depression, or substance use. MVBH offers structured, evidence-based care that meets young adults where they are, with respect for their autonomy, their developmental stage, and their goals.
We serve adults ages 18 and older across Massachusetts, with in-person treatment at our historic Mill 77 location in Amesbury and Virtual IOP available statewide. MVBH is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and provides a full continuum of outpatient care.
