What age range does MVBH serve for young adult treatment?

MVBH serves adults ages 18 and older. While we don't have a separate young adult track, our programs are well-suited to young adults in their late teens and twenties who are navigating mental health, substance use, trauma, or life transitions. Our clinicians tailor treatment to the developmental stage and needs of each individual.

Can a young adult attend MVBH while in college or working?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our Half Day Treatment (IOP) and Virtual IOP programs are designed to fit around school, work, or other responsibilities, typically meeting 3-5 days per week for about 3 hours per day. Outpatient therapy offers even more flexibility with 1-2 sessions per week. Full Day Treatment (PHP) is more intensive and may require a pause in school or work, but many young adults use it as a bridge to get stable before resuming their responsibilities.

Does MVBH treat co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders in young adults?

Yes. MVBH provides integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment that addresses both mental health and substance use concerns simultaneously. This is especially important for young adults, who often experience intertwined anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. Our approach treats the whole person, not just one diagnosis.

Yes. MVBH is committed to providing identity-affirming, respectful care for LGBTQ+ young adults. Will my parents or family be involved in my treatment?

That's up to you. As an adult, you control who is involved in your care. Some young adults benefit from family therapy sessions to improve communication and repair relationships. Others prefer to work independently. MVBH respects your autonomy and will collaborate with you to decide what level of family involvement—if any—supports your goals.

Can I do treatment virtually if I don't live near Amesbury?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MVBH offers Virtual IOP for young adults anywhere in Massachusetts. You'll participate in live, therapist-led groups and individual sessions via secure video. Virtual IOP provides the same evidence-based care as in-person IOP and is ideal for young adults who face transportation, scheduling, or location barriers.
