Perinatal & Postpartum Mental Health Treatment in Massachusetts

Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum year bring profound physical, hormonal, and emotional changes. For many adults, these transitions trigger or worsen mental health conditions—including depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, panic, OCD, PTSD, and postpartum psychosis. Merrimack Valley Behavioral Health provides specialized outpatient treatment for perinatal and postpartum mental health conditions at our Amesbury, Massachusetts location and statewide through Virtual IOP.

MVBH serves adults 18 and older experiencing mental health symptoms during pregnancy, postpartum, or the transition to parenthood. Our trauma-informed, identity-respecting care addresses the unique challenges of this life stage—including birth trauma, attachment concerns, identity shifts, relationship stress, and the intersection of mental health with reproductive experiences. We do not provide residential, inpatient, or detox services; all care is outpatient.

If you or someone you care for is experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm urges, or thoughts of harming the baby, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911 immediately. Perinatal mental health conditions are treatable, and early intervention supports recovery and bonding.
