We're located at 77 Elm St, Amesbury, MA 01913, inside the historic Mill 77 building. The facility is in the Merrimack Valley, easily accessible from I-95 and Route 110. Virtual IOP is available statewide across Massachusetts.

What are your hours?

Treatment hours vary by program. Full Day Treatment (PHP) runs 5-6 days per week, approximately 6+ hours per day. Half Day Treatment (IOP) runs 3-5 days per week, approximately 3 hours per day. Outpatient sessions are scheduled 1-2 times per week. Specific schedules are discussed during admission.

What levels of care do you offer?

We offer four levels of outpatient care: Full Day Treatment (PHP), Half Day Treatment (IOP), Outpatient (OP), and Virtual IOP. We do not provide detox, residential, inpatient, or 24-hour care. All programs are designed for adults 18 and older.

What should I expect on my first day?

You'll meet your therapist and care team, complete any remaining intake paperwork, and begin orienting to the program schedule and group structure. The first day focuses on building comfort and understanding your treatment plan. You'll be introduced to other clients and start participating in therapeutic activities.

Is treatment confidential?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All treatment at MVBH is HIPAA-protected and confidential. We do not share information about your care without your written consent, except in rare situations required by law (such as imminent risk of harm). Confidentiality is explained fully during your intake.

Do you treat adolescents or children?

No. MVBH serves adults ages 18 and older. We do not provide treatment for minors.

Can I do treatment virtually?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our Virtual IOP program is available statewide across Massachusetts. Virtual IOP offers the same structure, therapies, and clinical support as in-person IOP, delivered through secure video sessions. It's a good fit if you cannot travel to Amesbury or prefer online care.

Do you offer detox or residential treatment?

No. MVBH is an outpatient facility. We do not provide medical detoxification, residential care, inpatient stabilization, or overnight services. If you need detox or a higher level of care, we can help connect you to appropriate resources.

What conditions do you treat?

Accepted Answer

We treat a range of mental health and substance use conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, bipolar disorder, addiction, and co-occurring disorders. Treatment is individualized based on your needs and goals.

What if I'm in crisis?

Accepted Answer

If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts, self-harm urges, or an acute mental health crisis, call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. MVBH is an outpatient facility and cannot provide emergency or crisis intervention services.

How long does treatment last?

Length of treatment varies based on individual needs and progress. Many clients spend several weeks in PHP or IOP, then step down to outpatient care. Your care team will work with you to determine the right duration and level of care throughout your treatment.
