Virtual IOP is MVBH’s remote Half Day Treatment option for eligible adults who are physically located in Massachusetts during every live session. A screening considers clinical appropriateness, privacy, technology, participation, safety, and support outside program hours. Virtual IOP is not emergency, hospital, residential, or overnight care.

Virtual IOP eligibility and expectations

Virtual care can reduce travel, but it does not automatically fit every situation. Admissions and clinical screening can discuss whether a person can participate privately, reliably, and safely from a location in Massachusetts during each live session. They can also compare Virtual IOP with in-person IOP, PHP, or a different setting when appropriate.

The Massachusetts location requirement applies during every live session. Logging in from another state does not meet the requirement. This page does not offer cross-state virtual care or imply an MVBH facility outside Massachusetts.

A person can ask about schedule, technology expectations, privacy, group participation, support outside program hours, benefits review, and what happens if virtual outpatient care is not the right fit.

In Massachusetts, insurance providers commonly refer to these levels of care as PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program) and IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program). Any reference to PHP or IOP on this site refers to our Full Day Treatment or Half Day Treatment programs.
Detox scope: MVBH does not provide detox onsite. If detox may be needed before outpatient treatment, call our team. We can help identify an appropriate outside detox provider, but cannot guarantee placement, acceptance, transportation, medical clearance, or suitability.
