What a Full Day PHP conversation should answer
A PHP page should help an adult or family member understand the practical difference between a full day of outpatient care and a standard weekly appointment. MVBH’s PHP runs 5-6 days a week for 6 or more hours a day. The person returns home after programming, so treatment planning includes what support is available outside program hours.
The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration describes partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care as outpatient settings that can include individual appointments, groups, and coping-skills work. SAMHSA’s treatment-setting overview is useful general education, but it does not determine anyone’s program fit at MVBH.
A screening considers current needs, safety, ability to participate, treatment history, and the support needed outside program hours. It may indicate that PHP is worth considering, that a different outpatient option is more appropriate, or that another setting is needed first.
