Refer a Client to Merrimack Valley Behavioral Health

If you're a clinician, case manager, or provider referring a client, we want to make it simple. MVBH is a DPH-licensed outpatient center in Amesbury, MA. We offer a Full Day PHP, Half Day IOP, standard outpatient care, and a Virtual IOP for Massachusetts residents.

What We Need From You

To start a referral, we need some basics about your client. That means their contact details, a short clinical summary, any diagnoses or working impressions, and their insurance info so we can check benefits first. The more context you give us up front, the faster we can tell you if we're a good fit.

We treat anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, and co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges. If your client's needs fall outside what we cover, we'll tell you and help you think through other options.

Insurance Verification

We work with private insurance and can verify your client's benefits before their first appointment. Our admissions team calls the insurance provider to confirm what's covered, any out-of-pocket costs, and whether prior authorization is needed.

Have these ready when you refer:

  • The client's insurance card, front and back
  • The primary policyholder's info, if it's not the client
  • A preferred start date or any time constraints
  • Your contact info so we can loop you back in

The check is free and comes with no obligation. We want your client to know their costs before they commit, not after.

Our Programs at a Glance

Here's what we offer. The Full Day PHP runs during the day with structured programming. The Half Day IOP gives a less intense schedule that can fit around work or family. Standard outpatient is the lowest weekly level. The Virtual IOP covers the same content as in-person IOP, delivered remotely to clients anywhere in Massachusetts.

One thing to flag: we're licensed in Massachusetts only. If your client lives out of state, we can't treat them, even virtually. We'll say so directly rather than stringing the referral along.
