A Multidisciplinary Team in Amesbury
Mental health care works best when it's joined up. At Merrimack Valley Behavioral Health, our team brings together different roles so your care stays coordinated. We're a DPH-licensed outpatient center at 77 Elm St, in the Mill 77 building in Amesbury, MA. Nobody falls through the gaps.
Who's on the Team
Our clinical staff includes psychiatrists, licensed therapists, and psychiatric nurses. Each role handles a different piece of your care. They talk to each other, so your medication, therapy goals, and progress stay aligned. Nothing falls through the cracks between providers who never speak.
Psychiatrists handle medication evaluation and management. They meet with you to review symptoms and adjust prescriptions when needed. They also check in with your therapist on how the medication is working in real life. Therapy staff lead individual and group sessions. They work with you on the thinking patterns, behaviors, and life situations behind what you're going through.
Nursing staff support the medical side of treatment. They monitor how you're responding to care and check on medication side effects. If something feels off between appointments, they're the people you can tell directly.
Conditions We Treat
The team treats a range of conditions. That includes anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, and co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges. We also work with mood disorders and persistent emotional struggles that don't always come with a tidy label.
Every plan starts with a real conversation. We want to know what's bringing you in and what you want to change. From there, the team builds a plan around your actual situation, not a template. If your needs shift during treatment, the plan shifts too. Simple as that.
How the Disciplines Work Together
Here's what coordinated care looks like day to day. Your therapist knows what your psychiatrist prescribed and why. Your psychiatrist hears back on whether the medication is helping with the things you care about. Nursing staff catch the details in between, like a side effect that showed up midweek or a sleep change after a dosage shift.
This matters because mental health care can get fragmented fast. You might see a prescriber for ten minutes, a therapist in another office, and nobody comparing notes. We set up our team to avoid that. It's a small thing that changes a lot.
Levels of Care the Team Supports
The same team works across our program levels. You're not starting over if you step up or step down in intensity. Our programs include a Full Day PHP, a Half Day IOP, standard outpatient care, and a Virtual IOP for Massachusetts residents who can't come in person.
If you start in PHP and move to IOP, the staff who know your case stay involved. You don't retell your story or rebuild trust with new faces.
Working With Massachusetts Licenses
Our clinicians are licensed in Massachusetts. We see clients at our Amesbury location. For the Virtual IOP, we see clients anywhere in the state where they have a private space and a solid connection. We don't treat outside Massachusetts. We'll tell you that upfront rather than overpromise and hand you off later. That's a line we won't cross.
What You Can Expect From Us
We won't pretend our team is perfect or that every session is a breakthrough. What we will do is show up, listen, and adjust when something isn't working. We treat you like a person, not a diagnosis. If you have questions about whether we're the right fit, reach out and ask. We'd rather give you a straight answer than a sales pitch. Honestly, that's the only way we know how to work.
