Our Space in Amesbury
We want to be honest about what our facility is and isn't. Merrimack Valley Behavioral Health is an outpatient mental health center, not a residential retreat. We don't have a spa, a pool, a private chef, or yoga studios. If you've seen marketing language that suggested otherwise, that didn't come from us, and we'd rather you know the real picture before you arrive.
What we do have is a clean, private outpatient space inside the Mill 77 building at 77 Elm St in Amesbury, MA. It's a historic mill property, and our offices sit within it. The setting is quiet and professional, with dedicated rooms for individual therapy and a group therapy space where our IOP and PHP sessions meet.
Where Treatment Happens
Our programs run out of this single location for in-person care. The Full Day PHP and Half Day IOP use the group therapy space for structured sessions during the day. Individual outpatient appointments happen in private offices. The Virtual IOP is delivered remotely, so clients join from wherever they are in Massachusetts.
The group therapy room is the centerpiece of our higher levels of care. It's where clients in PHP and IOP gather for group sessions, which are a core part of those programs. We keep the space straightforward and comfortable because the work that happens there is the point, not the decor.
What We Are Licensed For
MVBH is a DPH-licensed outpatient mental health center. Our clinicians are licensed in Massachusetts. We offer a Full Day Partial Hospitalization Program, a Half Day Intensive Outpatient Program, standard outpatient care, and a Virtual IOP for Massachusetts residents.
We mention licensing because it tells you what kind of care we're set up to provide. We're an outpatient center, which means clients go home after their sessions. We don't provide 24-hour supervision, detox, or inpatient psychiatric care. If someone needs a higher level of support than outpatient can offer, we'll help them find it.
Why We Keep It Honest
Some treatment centers market themselves with luxury language that doesn't match what they actually provide. We've seen the confusion it causes, and we'd rather you show up knowing exactly what to expect. Our space is professional, private, and adequate for the clinical work we do. That's the honest description.
